Steady

Terms of Use

Effective 30 August 2026

These terms cover your use of the Steady app for iPhone. By using Steady you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to be impenetrable.

Steady is not therapy or medical care

Steady is self-help material. It is not therapy, counselling, psychological treatment, or medical care, and it is not a substitute for any of them. It does not diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any condition, and nothing in it is a clinical assessment. Its questions and scores are your own self-reported reflections, not measurements of your health.

If you are struggling, please speak to a qualified professional. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, contact your local emergency number, or in the US call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

Your licence

You get a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use Steady on Apple devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use. You may not copy, resell, sublicense, reverse engineer, or redistribute the app, except where that restriction is forbidden by law.

Your content is yours

Everything you write in Steady belongs to you. We claim no ownership or licence over it — which is straightforward, because it never reaches us. See the Privacy Policy.

Because your writing exists only on your device, you are responsible for your own backups. If you delete the app, erase your device, or lose it, that data is gone and we cannot recover it. The app can export everything at any time, without a subscription, and using that regularly is the only backup that exists.

Subscriptions and purchases

The first week of the journey is free and complete. Continuing past it requires a subscription or a one-time purchase.

Purchases are processed by Apple, and refunds are handled by Apple under its own terms. We cannot issue refunds ourselves. Requests go through reportaproblem.apple.com.

If you already owned a purchase — on another device, or before reinstalling — use Restore a purchase in the app.

What we promise, and what we don't

We will not gate access to what you have already written. Reading, exporting, and deleting your own writing work whether or not you have an active subscription. That is a commitment, not a courtesy.

Beyond that, Steady is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will produce any particular outcome in your life or your relationships.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost data or lost profits, arising from your use of Steady. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid for the app in the twelve months before the claim.

Some jurisdictions do not allow certain exclusions, so parts of the two sections above may not apply to you. Nothing here removes rights you have under mandatory consumer law.

Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no responsibility for the app. Apple has no obligation to provide support for it. If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple and Apple may refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.

Where Apple's Licensed Application End User Licence Agreement applies, these terms sit alongside it, and Apple's terms govern to the extent of any conflict.

Ending

You can stop using Steady at any time by deleting it. These terms end when you do. The sections on liability, disclaimers, and ownership survive.

Changes

If these terms change, the effective date above changes with it. Continuing to use the app after a change means accepting the revised terms.

Governing law

To be completed before launch. These terms will be governed by the laws of the jurisdiction in which the developer operates, without regard to conflict of law rules. The specific jurisdiction is being confirmed and will be stated here before the app is submitted to the App Store.
