Steady

Privacy Policy

Effective 30 August 2026

Steady collects nothing. There is no account, no server, and no analytics. Everything you write is stored on your device and stays there unless you choose to send it somewhere yourself.

The short version

Why we can say that

Steady contains no networking code. It does not include any software capable of sending your information off the device, and an automated test fails the build if such software is ever added. This is enforced in the codebase rather than promised in a document.

The app ships with an Apple privacy manifest declaring no tracking, no collected data types, and no use of the API categories Apple requires a reason for.

What is stored, and where

Your commitments, loops, daily check-ins, reflections, weekly and monthly reviews, lesson progress, practice attempts, self-assessments, the people you name, and your settings are stored in a database inside the app's own storage on your device. That storage is protected by your device's own security, including the device passcode and Apple's file protection.

Cloud sync is not enabled. Nothing is written to iCloud by the app.

The people you name

Steady lets you record the names of people who matter to you, so it can tell when finishing something requires telling somebody. It records their name, your description of the relationship, your own stated priority, and any notes you write.

It never records, scores, or infers anything about how another person feels, thinks, or behaves. There is no trust score, no mood, and no relationship percentage. A person's presence changes only whether telling them is required to close a loop — never how much anything is worth. This is enforced by tests in the codebase.

Purchases

Subscriptions and one-time purchases are handled entirely by Apple through the App Store. Apple processes the payment; we never see your payment details, billing address, or Apple Account.

The app asks Apple's software on your device whether a valid purchase exists and receives a yes or no. That answer is verified on the device itself, so there is no receipt server and nothing about your purchase is transmitted to us. What you bought is between you and Apple. Apple's handling of that transaction is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.

Export

Steady can produce a readable copy of everything you have written. The file is assembled on your device. If you then send it somewhere — email, notes, files, another app — that is the one moment anything leaves your device, and it happens because you chose it. Once it leaves, this policy no longer governs it; whatever service you sent it to does.

Deletion

Delete all my data in the app's Privacy Center permanently removes every record from your device. It cannot be undone, and there is no copy anywhere else to recover it from. Deleting the app also removes its data.

There is nothing for you to request from us, because we hold nothing. If a privacy law gives you a right to access, correct, port, or delete personal information we hold, the honest answer is that we hold none — and export and deletion are both built into the app so you can exercise those rights yourself, immediately, without asking anyone.

Notifications

If reminders are enabled, notifications are scheduled on your device by iOS. They never show what you have written — only that a reflection is due.

Children

Steady is intended for adults and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect information at all.

Changes

If this policy changes, the effective date above changes with it. If a future version of the app ever collects anything, that would be a substantive change and would be stated plainly here and in the app before it happened.
